AC15 Discovery Tours - 1-Year Anniversary

On this day last year, I along with a few AC podcasters and fans - including ACLandmarks, @estel-of-the-eyrie, The Science of Assassin's Creed, and @letstalkassassinscreed - co-hosted a series of series which we call the Discovery Tours! While the RPG trilogy of Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla have a game mode called the Discovery Tour, the classic games didn't have anything similar - we sought to provide that similar experience.

Arsh had started with the RPG trilogy prior, and the team (including me) came in during for Syndicate's celebration. What started out as a virtual pub crawl grew into something grander. I'm proud to have been part of this amazing team of AC fans and history buffs. Shoutout to the team - Arsh, Louise, Adha, BurnedCrusader. And shoutout to our collaborators and guests - @jamestq, Steph, Ammit, to name a few. And it was a pleasure getting back together for new tours for Community Relief! And finally, shoutout to the ACSisterhood for that is where we first gathered for the Virtual Pub Crawl which became the Discovery Tour series.

I was going to say Hades because I became fully obsessed with it last month. BUT. I started to play Assassin's Creed: Valhalla a few days ago and I. can't. stop. It's big, beautiful, and the player character is a gorgeous butch Viking lady.

Probably October. I don't think I cried in October.

Something that made you cry this year?

That stupid damn Barbie movie that I hated. I felt so manipulated. I was furious! I still am!

A memorable meal this year?

Hub and I went on a date in the summer where every bit of our meal was disaster. Terrible service, bad drinks, a bartender who looked like he might punch somebody at any moment, average to poor food. An all-around good time.

Hub and I are talking about maybe a UK trip; it's our 25th wedding anniversary in January so we deserve something extra special to mark the occasion.

What’s something you learned this year?

College financial aid is seriously difficult to navigate.

Only took our annual week in the mountains. So. The mountains.

It's finally here!

I was commissioned by the Assassin's Creed team to make a special wallpaper to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Assassin's Creed franchise I want to thank them for giving me this wonderful opportunity and allow me to be part of this project!

When I started this project, I wanted to pay tribute to this mighty character but I wasn't thinking about Kassandra "The Misthios". I only focused on the Kassandra "The Keeper", that powerful figure who endured and sacrificed so much but worked hard in the shadows to keep humanity safe from the Isu artifacts.

We are so used to hear that she is a simple misthios who just fights for a living but the Valhalla crossover showed us she's more than that. She may not be an assassin but she is part of this franchise and that's a fact we can't ignore and we should start appreciating more ❤️

ICYMI - Ubisoft Forward AC Showcase Summary

The Assassin's Creed Showcase segment of Ubisoft Forward began about 50 minutes into the stream, was introduced by Yves Guillemot (Ubisoft co-founder and CEO), and was hosted by Danny Wallace (voice of Shaun Hastings) and Alice Terrett (Senior Community Developer).

TLDR: Mirage trailer and 2023 release date, more post-launch Valhalla content, three codenamed games (Red and Hexe via Project Infinity, Jade via mobile), and AC live-action show with Netflix is early in production. No mention of an AC1 remake.

Assassin's Creed Mirage

The official cinematic trailer was shown featuring Basim's early life as a thief, initiation and training as an Assassin Hidden One, and more. It looks absolutely gorgeous.

Interview with Sarah Beaulieu, Narrative Director:

The game will focus on stealth and a strong action-adventure narrative.

following Basim's life 20 years before Valhalla as a thief in Baghdad and his journey of becoming a master assassin.

We'll meet Basim's mentor Roshan, voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo, and several historical characters.

More post-launch content is being released. "The Last Chapter", a free quest arc, was announced. Eivor will say goodbye to Ravensthorpe and travel to distant lands. 2022 release.

Assassin's Creed is "doubling down" on a passion for history as a powerful and eye-opening source for entertainment. New games were announced:

Codename Jade

Open-world AC game for mobile announced with a trailer. The game will take place in China (215 BCE). Players can create their own character.

Original AC live-action series and mobile game from Netflix

No details or visuals shared, but more info will be released as they get closer. The series will be an "epic, genre-bending adaptation". No news about the formerly announced animated or anime projects.

Codename Red

This will be another flagship title and the future of open-world RPG games in the AC series. Developed by the same studio as Odyssey (Ubisoft Quebec) and set in Feudal Japan.

Codename Hexe

Another flagship title in production by Ubisoft Montreal. The short trailer is apparently "full of secrets".

Project Infinity

"Not a game", but Infinity will be a single entry point for players to enter the future of AC and a hub that "unites players and experiences". Ubisoft is "investigating" standalone multiplayer experiences via the Infinity hub.
